Simple maintenance

In on/off-highway applications and with proper system maintenance PGXL® Vital offers ‘life of the engine’, 1.5million km / 6 years or 36,000* hours cooling system protection without the need of an extender. As a guide
testing should be conducted at least every 12 months, 250,000 kms or 4,000 hrs, or more regularly in dusty environments (eg. mining). These quick and accurate tools are all you need:

• For testing coolant condition use easy to read Fleetguard 4-way test kit CC36089 that checks primary additive levels, pH and glycol content. The
  test strip checks for the presence of nitrite, indicating that the coolant has been contaminated with a nitrite containing coolant, SCA or a chemical filter.
• PGXL® Vital refractometer (CC36090) (calibration point 34.6° Brix) is used to determine propylene glycol content.

Anglomoil Red Engine Coolant uses Organic Acid Technology (OAT) carboxylate corrosion inhibitors. Its advantage is that it provides a longer storage life than most other coolants. This allows maximum corrosion and anti-freeze/anti-boil protection for up to 250,000 Km or Five years*.

Product Description
HDD Coolant 50 has been specifically designed as a general purpose heavy duty cycle engine coolant suitable for diesel trucks, buses, marine, locomotive and static engines as well as mining equipment with both ferrous and aluminium construction. It is a low silicate and amine free formulation, which contains a pre-charge of supplemental coolant additive
(SCA) for added protection against wet cylinder liner pitting. It can be used alone, or with an SCA for extended service applications.

Recommended Concentration
HDD Coolant 50, pre-diluted to 50% v/v, contains sufficient inhibitors to enable it to be used as an initial fill fluid without the need for a pre-charge of supplemental coolant additive.

Service Life
The recommended maximum service interval without recharging the inhibitor system with an SCA is 240,000 kms (or 2 years) for off-road engines. In instances where extended service is required, HDD Coolant 50 requires ongoing maintenace with an SCA during its service life.
Where an SCA dose is required, use the SCA appropriate for that engine.
NOTE: Do not use HDD Coolant 50 with the Scania SCA or Glycool 350 coolant as they are NOT compatible.

Why Nulon Radiator Water should always be used.

Probably the poorest choice of blending coolant is to use standard tap water. The minerals found in the water when introduced into engine coolant are the source of several concerns.

Calcium: forms scale on hot heat exchange surfaces with this radiator system. Scale is an insulator, and the result is localized engine overheating that can cause component failure.

Magnesium: also can form scale, creating localized overheating and heat damaged engine heads.

Silicate: In water, silicate is the result of sand, which is frequently found in cooling systems, and is associated with premature wear due to its natural abrasion.

Chloride: Most tap waters contain chlorine, resulting in the formation of chlorides in the coolant. Chlorides are aggressive to aluminium and can create premature wear.

Oxygen: Tap water is full of oxygen. Oxygen contributes to premature metal corrosion and rapid depletion of corrosion inhibitors thus reducing the effective life of the coolant
